Download & System Requirements
Trezor Suite® is available for Windows, macOS (Intel & Apple Silicon), and Linux. Choose the installer that matches your operating system and verify signatures or checksums where available.
Minimum system requirements
- Windows 10 or later (64‑bit)
- macOS 11 (Big Sur) or later
- Popular Linux distributions — check the .AppImage or package instructions
- At least 500 MB free disk space and an available USB port
Installation & First‑Time Setup
- Download Trezor Suite® from the official site and verify the installer where possible.
- Run the installer and follow the setup prompts. On macOS you may need to allow the app in Security & Privacy.
- Launch Trezor Suite® and connect your Trezor hardware wallet via USB. For some devices, you may use Bridge or a compatible connector for web integrations.
- Set up a new device or restore: If your device is brand new, choose to set it up and create a PIN and recovery seed. If restoring, use your recovery seed on the device only.
- Update firmware if prompted: Trezor Suite® will notify you of firmware updates — follow the recommended steps to update securely.
Device Setup: PIN & Recovery Seed
During initial device setup, you will choose a PIN and write down a recovery seed. These are critical steps for securing and recovering your funds.
- Create a secure PIN: Choose a PIN you can remember but that isn’t easily guessable.
- Write down your recovery seed: The 12 or 24‑word seed is the only backup that recovers your wallet. Store it offline and in a safe place; consider multiple physical copies in separate secure locations.
- Protect the seed: Never share, photograph, or enter your recovery seed into an online form. If someone obtains your seed, they control your funds.
Adding Accounts & Managing Assets
Trezor Suite® supports a wide range of cryptocurrencies and tokens. Accounts are derived from your device's seed and displayed in Suite for easy management.
- Open Trezor Suite® and go to Accounts.
- Click Add account and choose the cryptocurrency you want to add.
- Follow prompts to open the corresponding app on your Trezor device (if required) and confirm account discovery.
- Your account will synchronize with the blockchain and display balances, transaction history, and token details.
Trezor Suite also provides portfolio overviews and balance aggregations across currencies and accounts.
Sending & Receiving Funds
Receiving funds
- Select the account to receive into and click Receive.
- Verify the receiving address shown in Trezor Suite on your Trezor device screen — the address must match before sharing it.
- Share the address or QR code with the sender.
Sending funds
- Click Send, choose an account, paste the recipient address and amount.
- Adjust network fees if the option is available — higher fees often lead to faster confirmations.
- Confirm the transaction details on your Trezor device and approve the signature. Your private keys remain on the device during signing.
Firmware Updates & Safety
Firmware updates improve security and add features. Trezor Suite® will prompt when updates are available and guide you through the secure update process.
- Back up your recovery seed before major updates (recommended).
- Follow Suite's step‑by‑step update instructions and confirm prompts on the device.
- If an update fails, consult official support resources before attempting risky workarounds.
Connecting to dApps & Using Bridges
Trezor Suite® can be used alongside bridge software (like Trezor Bridge) or wallet connectors to interact with decentralized applications (dApps). When connecting to dApps:
- Use recommended browsers (Chromium-based) and a separate profile for Web3 when possible.
- Approve connections and transactions only after reviewing details on your hardware device screen.
- Revoke permissions on dApps or wallet dashboards when no longer needed.
Advanced Features: Passphrases, Multisig & Enterprise
Passphrase (25th word)
Passphrases create additional hidden wallets derived from your seed. They offer extra security but must be used cautiously — losing a passphrase means losing access to that hidden wallet.
Multisignature setups
Trezor devices can be used in multisig setups for enhanced custody — ideal for teams or institutional users. Use established multisig wallet flows and coordinate signer policies securely.
Enterprise & Large‑scale use
For high‑value custody, follow hardened operational security, hardware segregation, and multi‑person approval workflows. Consider using dedicated hardware, air‑gapped backups, and professional custody solutions when necessary.
Security Best Practices
- Download Trezor Suite® from the official site only.
- Verify installation files using checksums or signatures if available.
- Never share your recovery seed or enter it into any computer.
- Confirm transaction details on the device screen before approving.
- Use passphrases only if you understand the implications and keep them secure.
- Keep firmware, Suite, and Bridge updated to receive security fixes.
- Consider metal seed backups for resilience against fire and water damage.
Troubleshooting — Common Issues
Suite doesn't detect device
- Ensure the device is unlocked and the correct app is open.
- Try a different USB cable or port (avoid hubs).
- Restart Trezor Suite and the device; verify Bridge is running if required.
Transaction pending or failed
Check the transaction using a blockchain explorer, verify fees were sufficient for network conditions, and ensure the correct network was used.
Lost device
If the device is lost or damaged, restore your wallet using the recovery seed on a new Trezor or compatible wallet. If the seed was compromised, move funds to a new wallet immediately.
FAQ
Q: Is Trezor Suite® free?
A: Yes — Trezor Suite® is free to download and use. Network fees apply when sending transactions and third‑party services may charge additional fees.
Q: Can I use Suite without a Trezor device?
A: Suite is designed to work with a hardware wallet for signing operations. Some parts of the app can be explored without a device, but signing requires one.
Q: What if I forget my PIN?
A: Repeated incorrect PIN attempts will wipe the device. You can restore from your recovery seed on a new device if you have it.
